Bohs celebrations continue with presentation of trophy

Bohemians will be officially presented with the eircom League trophy at Dalymount Park this evening. Gypsies fans will still be hungover from last night's FAI Cup victory celebrations but tonight's 8pm presentation is sure to be the perfect tonic. Gates open at 7pm.

Roddy Collins has given the credit for yesterday's historic cup final victory to his players. "I have to say, it's down to the players. They're the ones that graft, they’re the ones who train hard. Absolutely fantastic season, best in the history of the club and I'm really happy for everyone at Bohs," said the Bohemians boss. Bohs completed their first league and cup double since 1928, winning 1-0 against plucky Longford Town who were playing in their first cup final.

Longford played well in the first half, but Bohs seized control in the second half when Collins brought on Dave Morrison for Alex Nesovic. "I would have started Simon Webb and Dave Morrison under different circumstances but Simon carried a knock all week and I was worried about him. Morrison just got married yesterday, and I was worried about him. Once they got into the atmosphere of the occasion, I couldn't wait to put them on," said Collins. Webb came on after the half-hour mark because of an ankle injury to Jimmy Fullam.

He paid tribute to Longford's brave effort, saying "They're a good side, it's difficult for them as they're not as big a club as Bohs. You know, we're the champions, we're the cup holders, we won in Europe, and all I want to say is thanks to everyone in Longford and everyone in Bohemians Football Club."
