Keane blasts FAI in interview

Republic of Ireland captain Roy Keane has blasted the FAI for the way it treats the Irish players in an interview to hit the newsagents tomorrow. Parts of the interview with Four Four Two magazine was re-printed in this morning's Mirror newspaper and alleged Keane is ready to quit the international game unless the FAI make drastic changes to such things like travelling arrangements and training facilities for the Irish players.

FAI president Pat Quigley reacted to Keane's comments by suggesting the Irish captain get in touch with him. "We’ve had no official complaints from Roy himself or indeed Mick. I know we will be looking to see if we can improve the pitch. We have spent a lot of money on it but obviously it’s not as good as one would like it to be," he told RTÉ Radio 1's 5/7 Live this evening.

"I have offered to meet a delegation of the players or indeed if Roy would like to come along, I would be delighted to meet him, so we could iron out any problems but we’ve had no complaints from any other player. Of course Roy has the right to convey his feelings but I would have hoped he would have done it through the official channels so that we can we look after any problems the players might have," he added.

In the interview in the June issue of the top-selling British football magazine Keane allegedly attacks his fellow Manchester United team-mates over their lack of ambition and reveals that he has never given any of them his phone number.
