Newcastle midfielder Kieron Dyer has dismissed newspaper reports linking him with a big-money summer move to Manchester United. According to the reports, United boss Alex Ferguson has already had a £15m bid rejected by the Newcastle board but he is prepared to return with an increased bid of £20 in the summer, which would make Dyer the most expensive signing ever in British football if the transfer went through.
However, 22-year-old Dyer has joined his manager Bobby Robson in denying these reports. "I am staying at Newcastle and that's all there is to it," he said in an interview with the Newcastle Journal. "As far as I'm concerned, any talk of a £15million bid is ridiculous and nobody at the club knows anything about it."
"I'm flattered that my name keeps being linked other big clubs, but at the moment, all I'm concentrating on is getting fit. I won't go to the manager's door asking to leave St James' Park, and the club don't want me to leave. That's pretty conclusive - but I can't stop the speculation," he added. (PA)
