Australia smash scoring record

Australia have broken the international scoring record with a 22-0 victory over minnows Tonga in an Oceania World Cup qualifier. Frank Farina's men easily beat the previous World Cup best by three goals, surpassing Iran's 19-0 win over Guam last year, with Coventry City striker John Aloisi helping himself to six goals.

Wolves defender Kevin Muscat hit five goals, including three penalties as the Socceroos ran riot from as early as the third minute. Australia will be expected to improve on their record when they face American Samoa, the world's lowest-ranked team, on Wednesday.
