Irish confident ahead of Andorra clash

Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane has revealed that the Irish squad are feeling very positive about Wednesday night's World Cup qualifier against Andorra in Barcelona. Keane, who had a goal ruled out during Ireland's 4-0 win over Cyprus on Saturday, revealed the Irish squad are eagerly awaiting the clash that could send them top of Group 2.

"The lads are fairly confident. We got two great results away from home against Portugal and Holland and another great result on Saturday so there’s a lot of confidence about and all the boys are just looking forward to Wednesday now," said Keane.

"People expect a lot of us but we know ourselves it’s not going to be an easy game. They are going to make it difficult for us. I’d imagine they will be sitting behind the ball and waiting for us to attack so it will be difficult but the players know that and the manager knows that. We’re going in to it with a lot of confidence and hopefully we can get the three points," he added.

Meanwhile, Mick McCarthy, who joined up with the squad in Barcelona after spending a few days at home following the death of his father, will take a training session at the match venue, the Mini Stadio, this afternoon before naming his team line-up immediately afterwards.
