St Patrick's Athletic boss Pat Dolan was overjoyed with his team's historic 5-2 aggregate victory over UCD in the Eircom League Cup last night. "It's hard to put into words what it means. We've never ever won this trophy in our history and I'm delighted for the fans and the players. I thought the players were magnificent in what were difficult circumstances as there was that sense that we had a comfortable lead. I haven't even got a clue what the score was in the end - the last few minutes were a bit hairy," he said after the game.
St Pat's took the trophy after they drew 2-2 last night during the second leg of the final at Belfield. Colm Foley and Darragh Maguire scored to put Pat's well in control, but late goals from Derek Swann and Eamonn McLoughlin for UCD set up a hectic finish.
