St Patrick’s Athletic won the first silverware of the season when they beat UCD on a two goal deficit in the Eircom League Cup. Both teams drew 2-2 in Belfield this evening but the Inchicore side was 3-1 up from the first leg going into the final. Colm Foley opened the scoring in the eight and Darragh Maguire struck home to get the second a minute before half-time.
UCD regained some pride when they levelled the score-line with two goals, Eamonn McLoughlin executed a great volley while Derek Swan hit home inside the final seven minutes.
