The eircom Park saga took a fresh twist today after the Board of Management of the FAI unanimously agreed to adopt three proposals put forward last night by the eircom League. In what is seen as a significant development the FAI has agreed that it must enter into substantive talks with the Government to establish the basis for use of the proposed National Stadium as a possible alternative to eircom Park.
It was also decided that independent, technical and financial advisors will review the eircom Park project, and that the planning procedure for eircom Park should be processed fully through An Bord Pleanála at a reasonable cost.
Today's vote was taken following a decision by the chairmen of the 22 eircom League clubs last night to support a motion calling on the FAI Board of Management to rescind a decision made last year not to negotiate with the Government over the Stadium Ireland project.
