Soccer: Eircom Park falls £10m short

The FAI yesterday announced some of the financial details surrounding the proposed building of Eircom Park with the figures showing that the FAI fell way short of their estimations. The value of the advanced sale for premium seats and corporate boxes achieved by IMG is in excess of £10 million pounds off the figure the Association have been touting in the last few weeks.

The FAI reportedly sold 54 corporate boxes and 3,100 premium seats but according to yesterday’s statistics there have only been 21 corporate boxes and 1,400 premium seats sold. The gap between the sales and the level that had been claimed fell short to the sum of almost one eight of the total projects revenue. But it could be proven even worse for the Association, as seats which were previously said to have been sold for £5,500, went for £3,000.

Yesterday’s figures are not to be discussed at a meeting on Monday of the full FAI council. The whole business plan is to be reviewed at the board of management meeting on the 22nd of February, and if things don’t improve for the venture it may possibly end up on the scrap heap before it even gets started.
