Soccer: Carbone completes move to Bradford

Italian striker Benito Carbone has completed his transfer to Bradford City, signing a four-year contract with the Premiership club. Last night, the transfer seemed to have collapsed after Carbone rejected a move to the club following six hours of talks. However, at 4am this morning, his agent contacted the Bantams chairman Geoffrey Richmond to say that Carbone had had a change of heart. Talks resumed between the two sides and Carbone was finally unveiled at a press conference this evening as Bradford's newest signing. Bradford's boss Chris Hutchings told the gathered journalists and several hundred fans: "We are delighted to have acquired such a talented player. He will entertain you."

However, the bookies have made Carbone's new club favourites to be relegated at the end of the season. William Hill have quoted the club at 8-13 to go down but one optimistic fan has placed a £10 bet at odds of 1,250-1 for the Bantams to win the Premiership.
