Soccer: Shelbourne punished by early goals

Shelbourne lost 3-1 to eight time Norwegian champions Rosenborg at Tolka park last night. The home side trailed 2-0 after just 14 minutes which indeed proved too much of a deficit for the Irish champions to comeback against. "I cant believe we did not get at least a share of the spoils out there tonight. The way the lads responded out on the pitch was a credit. Three stupid goals, the last a real heartbreaker really killed things," said Shelbourne manager Dermot Keely.

Shelbourne dominated much of the second half and were rewarded after 62 minutes when subsitute Richie Foran scored with a brave diving header to cut the visitors advantage. Right full back Petter Belsvik completed the scoring for Rosenborg a minute from time, earlier Orjan Berg after two minutes and Frederick Winsnes after fourteen had put the Norwegian champions in a comfortable position.
