Soccer: Shels face Balkan trip in Champions League

National League champions Shelbourne will play against Macedonian side FC Sloga Jugomagnat in the first qualifying round of the Champions league. In the draw made in Geneva today Shels are away for the first leg on the 12th of July, with the home leg at Tolka Park a week later on Weds, 19th July. The winners of the tie will play Rosenborg of Norway in the second qualifying round of the Champions League. The Irish League's Linfield will play FC Haka of Finland in their first round.

In the UEFA Cup, Bohemians have been drawn away against Aberdeen in the first leg, while Cork City will go to Lausanne of Switzerland. The games will take place on August 10 and 24.

Meanwhile, Glasgow Rangers face a trip into the unknown when they play their second round European Champions League qualifier. The Light Blues have been paired with either FK Zalgiris Kaunas of Lithuania or NK Brotnjo of Bosnia. Rangers are drawn at home in the first leg on July 26 with the return taking place in Lithuania or Bosnia on August 2.

Celtic will kick off their European campaign in Luxembourg when they face AS Jeunesse Esch in the first round of the UEFA Cup.
