Soccer: Chelsea admit to chasing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink

Chelsea have admitted for the first time today that they are interested in bringing the former Leeds Utd striker, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to Stamford Bridge. Leeds sold Hasselbaink to Athletico Madrid for £12 million and since then he has led the scoring charts for most of the season in their Premier Division, the 'Primera Liga'.

Other clubs reportedly interested in the Dutch striker are Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia and the Italian club Lazio. However the London club have been linked with an offer of £14 million, but it is believed that nothing is to be finalised until after next Saturday's Spanish Cup Final, which could be his last game in Spain.

Meanwhile Liverpool have agreed to the signing of former Scotland Captain Gary McAllister. The veteran midfielder completed a medical at Anfield today and has decided to link up with Gerald Houllier's side in July. He had been at Coventry since 1996.
