Leeds United ended one of the most tragic weeks in their history by suffering a 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa in the premier league on Sunday. Leeds slipped out of the top two for the first time since September and were replaced by Liverpool who beat middle-of-the-table Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 with goals from Czech Patrik Berger and England striker Michael Owen.
Meanwhile the club is awaiting a response from UEFA, on Wednesday, to their decision to ban Galatasaray fans from attending the return leg of the UEFA Cup semi-final at Elland Road next week. Club Chairman Peter Ridsdale says he is worried about more violence if Galatasary fans are admitted.
Ridsdale is urging Turkish fans not to come to the game after the deaths of two Leeds fans before the first leg in Istanbul last week. Galatasary want the game at a neutral venue and say they may pull out if UEFA ban their supporters from the second leg.
