Soccer: Bray board to meet after semi-final controversy

The board of Bray Wanderers is to meet tomorrow to discuss a possible response to yesterdays 2 -1 cup semi final defeat by Bohemians at Dalymount Park. The club may seek a replay of the game because of a number of incidents arising from the match. The cup holders had two penalty appeals as well as having a goal disallowed, incidents which the Bray manager Pat Devlin believes should warrant a re-match. There was also controoversy over the suspension of Bray's Jason Byrne for the game.

Devlin was seething after the loss to Bohs which means that for the first time in the history of the FAI Cup, Bohemians and Shelbourne will meet in the final at the end of this month. Ray Kelly headed home the winner for Bohemians but it was some of the decisions made by referee John Feighrey during the course of the game that caught Devlin's eye. Earlier Colm Tresson had given Bray hope when he equalised the effort of hunt. So Bohemians, who last won the Cup in 1992, as of now face fellow Shels in an all-Dublin affair.

Meanwhile, the Cup final will be played at Tolka Park on April 30 with a 3.00pm kick-off. Should a replay be necessary, it will take place at Dalymount Park on the following Friday, May 5 at 7.30pm.

Also last night, in the Eircom League Premier Division UCD and Shamrock Rovers drew 1-1. O'Donnell secured a point for the students with a 93rd minute reply to Byrne 32nd minute goal.

In other news, it has been confirmed that Shelbourne's home game tomorrow night against Drogheda United will go ahead at 7:45pm. All the Dublin side need is 1 point, and they'll be crowned champions of the Eircom League Premier Division.

In the women's Under-18 European Championships, the Republic of Ireland drew 2-2 with England this evening. Clare Egan and Caroline Thorpe were the Irish goalscorers in Cadiz in Spain.
