Soccer: Hooliganism in Brussels mars international night

Euro 2000 co-hosts Holland and Belgium battled out a 2-2 draw in one of tonight's many international friendlies, but hooliganism in Brussels revived painful memories of the Heysel disaster. Dozens of Dutch fans were arrested before kick-off at the King Baudouin ground that was renamed to banish memories of perhaps the worst hooligan-related incident in history. Elsewhere Wales lost 2-1 to Finland despite a Ryan Giggs strike, while France defeated Scotland 2-0.

There is a large compliment of International friendlies being played this evening. Wales 1 take on Finland 2, Switzerland 2 play Norway 2, Belgium 2 play fellow Euro 2000 hosts Holland 2, Croatia 1 line out against Germany 1, Greece 2 take on Romania, Austria 1 play Sweden 1, Bulgaria 4 against Belarus 1 and the Czech Republic defeated Australia 3-1.
