The FAI has upheld an appeal by Fairview Rangers in relation to their second round Cup game against College Corinthians last Sunday. Fairview had a player wrongfully sent-off, and as a result the draw has been declared null and void. The match has been re-fixed for Limerick on Sunday. The teams were due to meet in a replay in Cork, but the game will now go ahead at Fairgreen in Limerick with a 2.00pm kick-off.
Kilkenny City and Cork City are through to the third round of the FAI Cup. Kilkenny beat Dundalk 3-2 on penalties last night after their second round replay at Oriel park ended 1-1 after 90 minutes and extra time. John Sharkey put Dundalk in front after 71 minutes, but David Breen forced the game into extra time with an injury time equaliser. Cork City won their game 3-1 against Shamrock Rovers. Derek Coughlan scored twice for Cork in a very entertaining game considering the muddy conditions at Turners Cross. Cork's second was thought to have been scored by Dave Hill but Rovers 'keeper Tony O'Dowd just managed to keep it out before Coughlan arrived. The postponed Bray Wanderers/ Derry City game has been re-fixed for next Wednesday at the Carlisle Grounds at 7.30pm. While the Finn Harps/ Home Farm Fingal tie, which has been postponed twice, has been re-fixed for Tuesday next at 7.45pm at Finn Park.
