It has emerged that police are now investigating the hospitalisation of Diego Maradona in Uruguay. Maradona was hospitalised in Maldanado suffering from a hypertension attack with ventricular arrythmia, a condition reportedly caused by poor diet. However, it has been revealed that the former soccer star has tested positive for cocaine and that excessive amounts of the drug have been found in his system. Maradona has been twice suspended from organised soccer for drug offences. The police are now awaiting his release from hospital to continue their investigation, a delay which it is predicted will not be too long as his clinical condition has stabilised.
