Soccer: Rozental may return to Rangers early

Seb Rozental could return to Rangers from his current extended loan spell at former club Universidad Catolica as early as next month. The Ibrox outfit are short of options in attack in the wake of Michael Mols' damaged knee ligaments and have held provisional talks with Rozental about a return ahead of schedule.

The Chilean international striker is due to spend 18 months on loan to recover his form and fitness with his projected recall date this June - but 22 goals in 27 games have proved his game has regained its sharpness. Speaking in today's `Rangers News', Rozental, who has barely figured for Rangers because of injury, revealed his father Lazaro, who acts as his agent, has discussed a January comeback.

He said: “My father and I have spoken with both David Murray and Dick Advocaat. My return date is due to be June but as there are problems with the strikers it's possible I could come back in January. I honestly feel I could do a job for Rangers just now. I would love nothing more than to come back to Glasgow. I want to return as soon as possible. I feel fitter than ever and have been scoring regularly. However that decision is up to Dick Advocaat, not me. I will accept whatever he decides.”

Rangers will spend the Scottish Premier League's winter break in Florida and Rozental is now awaiting a decision as to whether he can rejoin his team-mates on tour. He added: “If the manager (Advocaat) decides it's OK then I might go along to do some training. It's up to him, an official decision hasn't been made yet but I'm waiting for that call.”

Meanwhile, Rangers' out-of-favour midfielder Derek McInnes is poised to complete his £300,000 switch to French club Toulouse subject to agreeing personal terms. He said today: “I'm flying out and barring any last-minute hitches I should put pen to paper when I go over there. When I went last month I was very impressed by the set-up.”
