Shelbourne returned to the top of the table with a priceless away win against Cork Ciy at Turner's Cross yesterday. Cork were restricted in their early play as Shelbourne took control in the 22nd minute when Ritchie Baker fired in from the edge of the area. However, the home side soon got the reply they needed when Caulfield equalised on 33 minutes. The visitors proved their resilience when 13 minutes into the second-half Stephen Geoghegan scored the winner after a fine move.
Meanwhile, a tough game saw Bohemians claim their first league success against the Hoops in 11 attempts. Both sides were reduced to 10 men as
first Dunne was sent off for Rovers on 50 minutes and then five minutes later Harris was given his marching orders. Bohemians opted to play with the wind in the first-half and after 28 mins Purdy turned the ball past his own keeper to give the visitors the lead. Rovers had the better of the second-half but Bohs hung on for a precious away win.
