John Higgins brushed aside Zhou Yuelong 5-0 in the quarter-final of the Welsh Open to remain on course for a sixth title.

The Scot made breaks of 75 and 67 following three untidy frames to seal progression and will meet Jack Lisowski in the semi-final after he defeated 2017 champion Stuart Bingham 5-2.

Barry Hawkins, who had beaten Mark Williams on Thursday, overcame a second world champion by beating Neil Robertson 5-3 to reach his first semi-final of the season.

Hawkins made a single break over 40, but nevertheless set up a last-four meeting with either Jiang Jun or Wu Yize.
