Mark Selby recovers from slow start in Leicester

Four-time world champion Mark Selby reeled off three succssive wins after defeat to Tom Ford

Defending champion Mark Selby recovered from an opening defeat to end the first day of the Championship League's winners’ group joint top of the standings with Tom Ford and Elliot Slessor.

Ford inflicted a 3-1 defeat on Selby in the day’s opening match but the four-time world champion, defending his title on home turf in Leicester, recovered with 3-2 wins over Matthew Selt and Wu Yize and a 3-1 victory over Si Jiahui.

Ford beat Slessor 3-1 in his final match of the morning session but then went down 3-1 to Zhang Anda before edging out Wu 3-2.

Slessor had beaten Si 3-2 before his loss to Ford, then beat Selt 3-1 and Zhang 3-2 in the evening session.
