Ronnie O'Sullivan progressed to round two of the German Masters with a 5-1 win over Long Zehuang.

The world number eight clinched the opening two frames before Long responded with a break of 56 to pull one back, but a comfortable display saw O’Sullivan ease to victory, hitting a 93 break in the final frame to wrap up the win.

Judd Trump also reached the second round with a 5-0 whitewash against Cheung Ka Wai, and John Higgins claimed a 5-1 opening-round win against Jamie Jones, while Mark Selby beat Liu Hongyu 5-1 and Zhao Xintong earned a 5-0 victory over Jiang Jun.

There was defeat for Jordan Brown, who was given a walkover into the last 32. He was whitewashed by Jak Jones, who hit five breaks over 50, including a 116 in the last.

In the evening session, Kyren Wilson continued his title defence with a 5-1 win over Anthony McGill in round two and Shaun Murphy hit two century breaks on his way to beating Julien Leclercq 5-1.

An entertaining meeting saw Ishpreet Singh Chadha battle to a 5-3 win over Elliot Slessor after clinching the final three frames, which included breaks of 56 and 53.

Antrim's Mark Allen is in action this morning against Gao Yang with a place in the last 16 on the line.
