Three-time champion Neil Robertson eased through to the second round of the UK Snooker Championship in York with a 6-2 win over Belgian qualifier Julian Leclerq.

Robertson, who last won the title in 2020, was twice pegged back to within a frame but reeled off three in a row to set up a clash with China's Wu Yize, who beat Michael Holt 6-4.

Fellow former triple champion John Higgins also advanced with a 6-2 win over Ben Woollaston, and 2008 winner Shaun Murphy fired five half-centuries as he brushed aside Lyu Haotian by the same score.

Two-time winner Mark Williams repelled a gutsy fightback from David Gilbert to also confirm his place in round two with a 6-4 win.
