Ronnie O'Sullivan was whitewashed 4-0 by Shaun Murphy to fall at the first hurdle in the Riyadh Season Snooker Championship.
Murphy took little more than an hour to knock out the 49-year-old, who was never able to get going.
A clever plant set Murphy on the way to a frame-winning break of 53 in the opener and a missed pink to the middle cost O’Sullivan the second.
Murphy hit a classy 93 to move 3-0 up and O’Sullivan missed the easiest of straight yellows to gift-wrap the victory.
Murphy will face reigning world champion Zhao Xintong in the quarter-finals.
Defending champion Mark Allen also has a bye to the last eight, where he will face John Higgins or Ding Junhui.
