Mark Selby beat old rival Mark Williams 6-5 to reach the semi-finals of the Champion of Champions event in his home city of Leicester.

Williams, the defending champion, raced into a 2-0 lead but Selby hit straight back, a total clearance of 136 bringing him level at 2-2 at the interval.

Selby found himself 68-0 down, and requiring a snooker, in the sixth frame but got it to move 4-2 ahead.

Williams ground out the next three frames, winning the eighth on the pink and the ninth on the black, before a 95 from Selby took the match to a decider which he won thanks to a break of 55.

Selby will face today's Group Four winner, which will be Neil Robertson, Tom Ford, John Higgins or Xiao Guodong.
