John Higgins secured his place in the Tour Championship semi-finals after closing out a 10-3 victory over Xiao Guodong in Manchester.
The 49-year-old Scot resumed with a 5-3 overnight lead and swiftly reeled off the remaining frames he needed, adding breaks of 61, 87 and 100.
The four-time world champion goes on to meet Barry Hawkins, who had beaten world number one Judd Trump in their quarter-final.
Higgins is looking to build on his first ranking title in four years at the World Open in China last month.
"Big players are winning multiple events, that's what I need to try to do," Higgins said on the World Snooker Tour Website.
"I still want to compete with them. If I ever lose that, I have got no chance."
Reigning world champion Kyren Wilson suffered a nosebleed during his quarter-final against Ding Junhui, which saw the match suspended for almost 30 minutes.
During the seventh frame, with Ding having opened up a 5-1 lead, Wilson had to leave the arena for medical treatment.
When he eventually returned to the table, Wilson joked with the crowd; "I thought there was a red over the pocket", before missing a long pot.
Ding went on to clear up with a break of 80 to further extend his advantage, before also taking the last frame of the session 66-13 to lead 7-1 heading into the evening session.
