Judd Trump powered into the semi-finals of the Sportsbet.io Players Championship with a comprehensive 6-0 whitewash of Shaun Murphy in Telford.
The world number one made a century and four other 50-plus breaks as he stunned Masters champion Murphy, who mustered just 40 points in Thursday's match to Trump’s 524.
After taking a scrappy opening frame in which his highest break was 24, Trump clicked into gear with runs of 77, 101 and 65 to take a 4-0 lead into the interval.
He then returned to complete an emphatic win with further visits of 66 and 55.
Trump acknowledged the quality of his win afterwards: "Shaun’s been a different animal this season, so when you beat him you take a bit more credit than maybe I used to.
"He’s an amazing player and to beat anyone at this level 6-0 is incredibly hard."
Neil Robertson also reached the last four with a comfortable 6-3 victory over Mark Selby.
Selby looked in good touch early on as he responded to Robertson’s success in the first frame to level the scores with a superb break of 139.
However, Robertson responded to win three frames in succession and, although Selby replied with a break of 88 in the sixth, the Australian moved within one of victory with 99.
Selby clawed another frame back, but Robertson was not to be denied and will now play current world champion Kyren Wilson for a place in the final.
Trump will face the winner of Friday’s match between Xiao Guodong and John Higgins.
