Judd Trump will face Shaun Murphy in the quarter-finals of the Players Championship after easing past Lei Peifan 6-2.

Peifan gave Trump something to think about midway through the contest, closing to 3-2 and having a chance to level the contest when Trump left him what looked an easy shot in the sixth frame, but he missed the plant and Trump moved 5-2 up.

Peifan was leading late in the eighth frame too, but a bad miss on the yellow left the door open for Trump to finish it off.

He will now face Murphy, who sealed a 6-4 win over Barry Hawkins with a break of 123, having seen an early 3-0 lead wiped out when Hawkins rallied to make it 4-4.

Neil Robertson dug deep to come from behind and beat Stuart Bingham 6-4 to set up a second-round match against Mark Selby.

Bingham – beaten 10-0 by Robertson only nine days ago – moved into an early 3-1 lead but, when 4-2 up, missed what looked like a routine pink to allow Robertson a route back into the contest.

Another miss at 4-4 proved costly as the Australian accepted the invitation to move into the lead.

Selby advanced with a 6-3 win over rising Chinese star Si Jiahui.

Selby, seeking a third title of the season, had breaks of 132, 128 and 99 in the win.
