Judd Trump and Kyren Wilson were among the big names making safe progress into the second round on day one of the German Masters.
Defending champion and world number one Trump responded to losing the opening frame to David Grace by hitting a break of 122, and after subsequently going 2-1 down recovered again to secure a 5-2 victory.
There were high-scoring breaks from both players as world champion Wilson, who also lost the opening frame, beat Ka Wai Cheung 5-3. Wilson made 131, 93 and 100, while Cheung posted a 99 and a 107.
Shaun Murphy, victorious over Wilson in the Masters final earlier this month, made two century breaks as he defeated Liam Graham 5-0.
John Higgins got past Mark Davis 5-3 and Neil Robertson saw off Antoni Kowalski 5-1, while Stuart Bingham was thumped 5-0 by Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.
