Jimmy White recorded one of his best victories in the last decade after knocking out Judd Trump in third round of the WST Classic in Leicester.

White, aged 60, reached the last 32 of the UK Championship earlier in the season and is now at an even deeper stage of this competition following his shock win over one of the best players in the world.

The Whirlwind raced into a 3-0 lead against an out of sort Trump.

He withstood a fightback including a 73 break from the Masters champion, sealing the 4-2 win in a scrappy sixth frame.

White moves on to the last 16 where he'll face Pang Junxu.

He said: "I started off really nervous, and it's okay to nervous, because you're alive and at my age.

"Even though I went 3-0 up I wasn't playing great stuff. But he was struggling to I tried to keep him cold.

"I had a chance to win 4-0 and 4-1 and the balls stop forgiving you. I lost a bit of discipline then.

"If you're not a fan of Judd Trump, you're not a fan of snooker, so it's a big win for me."

Elsewhere Mark Allen lost 4-1 to Noppon Saengkham.
