Barry Hawkins booked his place in the final of the Cazoo Players Championship with a 6-2 victory over Ricky Walden in Wolverhampton.
In an error-strewn contest it was Hawkins who scored the heaviest when it mattered, the left-hander taking the last three frames with breaks of 115, 61 and 75.
Walden had taken the opening frame with a break of 69 and was on a run of 60 in the second when he missed a crucial pink into the yellow pocket, allowing Hawkins in to clear up and level the scores.
Hawkins also took the next two frames and although Walden responded with a contribution of 54 to reduce his deficit, Hawkins punished a number of mistakes from his opponent to advance to Sunday's final.
"It was very difficult at the start of the match, Ricky started off well and looked confident and it was a massive turning point in the second frame," Hawkins told ITV4.
"I made a good little clearance and it put him out of his rhythm a little bit and he struggled from then on."
Saturday’s other semi-final sees Neil Robertson take on Jimmy Robertson after the latter beat John Higgins 6-4 in the last quarter-final.
Higgins took the opening two frames before Robertson clicked into top gear, making four breaks over 50 and the match’s only century – 102 in frame seven – on his way to victory.
"That win means everything," the 35-year-old said. "It was a massive match and a massive occasion.
"Beating him in an ITV event on the one-table set-up is huge for me and hopefully it can give me a lot of confidence."
