Mark Allen also made it through to the next stage of the BetVictor Snooker Shoot Out in Leicester following a break of 51 against Ashley Carty.

Jimmy White, 59, was knocked out after losing to Sanderson Lam, while Barry Hawkins survived a scare against amateur Ryan Davies to book his place in the second round.

Hawkins, who lost last Sunday's Masters final to Neil Robertson, held an 11-point lead with less than one minute remaining.

But Hawkins allowed his 19-year-old opponent a chance to win after missing a blue to the middle pocket.

However, despite potting red and blue, Davies, a late replacement for Ding Junhui, then missed his next red as Hawkins progressed 27-21.
