Neil Robertson beat world number one Mark Selby 6-3 in the World Grand Prix semi-finals in Coventry.
Robertson, who won the English Open last month, will play the winner of Saturday's second semi-final between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Stuart Bingham in Sunday’s final.
The Australian world number four has now won his last five meetings against the reigning world champion.
Robertson told ITV4: "It might start to annoy him a little bit, I don’t know. I don’t really think too much about head-to-heads.
"When it’s going for you, you try and manipulate it as well as you can inside your head, thinking 'yeah, I’ve got the wood on him here’.
"But someone like Mark, I don’t think it concerns him too much. I guess when we face each other again he’s going to be even more motivated.
"At the moment, I’ve been on a good run against him and hopefully I can capitalise on Sunday."
Robertson raced into a 2-0 lead with breaks of 82 and 93 before Selby, who had failed to reach the last 16 of any event this season prior to this tournament, clawed his way back to 2-2 by clinching the fourth frame 79-78.
Further breaks of 74 and 67 saw Robertson regain his two-frame advantage at 4-2 but Selby responded again with a break of 112 in the seventh frame, the only century of the match.
But Selby, struggling for consistent form, missed too many of his pots and his mistakes were pounced on by Robertson, who cruised to victory by taking the final two frames with breaks of 74 and 71.
Earlier on Friday, O’Sullivan booked his last-four spot with a 5-2 victory over Jimmy Robertson while Bingham saw off Stephen Maguire 5-2.
