John Higgins swept aside Ronnie O'Sullivan with a ruthless 6-1 victory to reach the semi-finals of the Cazoo Champion of Champions in Bolton.

Higgins and O’Sullivan, with 10 world championship titles between them, clashed in their group final on Thursday night, having defeated Ding Junhui and Stuart Bingham respectively earlier in the day.

Higgins was quickly into stride, taking the opening two frames with breaks of 86 and 92.

O’Sullivan got himself on the scoreboard with a break of 101, before Higgins restored his two-frame advantage by taking a scrappy fourth frame.

The Scot then moved further in front with a fine 127 and went one away from victory with a break of 97.

O’Sullivan had no margin for error and missed a black when on a break of 22.

Higgins made 63 before missing a red but it was enough for him to move into the semi-finals where he will face Yan Bingtao.
