World number one Judd Trump is out of the BetVictor Championship League after being pipped by Tom Ford to a place in the last eight.

Ford, the world number 22, won two of his three matches at stage two of the competition in Leicester, including a 3-0 victory over Trump.

That was good enough to secure top spot in Group A and progress to stage three on Friday, two points ahead of Trump.

Trump opened with a 2-2 draw against Jimmy Robertson and then saw off Stuart Carrington 3-0.

Victory over Ford - who lost to Carrington but beat Robertson - would have seen him through but he was whitewashed.

Mark Allen completed the line-up for finals day by topping Group B with victories over Fergal O'Brien, Peter Lines and Ricky Walden.
