Barry Hawkins and Stuart Carrington advanced to stage two of the BetVictor Championship League at the Morningside Arena in Leicester.
Both players ended the day with seven points to top their respective groups after recording two wins and a draw.
Hawkins beat Kuldesh Johal and Zak Surety 3-0 before drawing 2-2 with Ben Woollaston, while Carrington dropped one frame in victories over Duane Jones and Ireland's Michael Judge in Group 2 before drawing with Welsh Open champion Jordan Brown of Northern Ireland.
Dubliner Judge (46) drew 2-2 with Jones and lost 3-0 to Brown in his two other matches to finish with one point.
"It is the first tournament of the season, everyone is probably a bit rusty, but I need to step it up now," Hawkins said.
"I don't have real goals for the season, but like everyone I'm looking for a win. It was warm in the arena so conditions were tough, a little bit clammy."
