Judd Trump on song against Robbie Williams at the Gibraltar Open but Ding Junhui exits early

Judd Trump cruised through to the second round of the Gibraltar Open with a 4-1 win against Robbie Williams.

World number one and defending champion Trump, who produced three half-century breaks, was never in trouble after opening up a 2-0 lead.

Williams hit back with a score of 85 in the third frame, but Trump produced breaks of 54 and 80 in the next two to seal a place in the last 64.

China's world number nine Ding Junhui fell victim to a first-round upset, beaten 4-2 by teenage compatriot Si Jiahui.

World number 92 Jamie Clarke also claimed a major scalp as he won 4-1 against China's Yan Bingtao, currently 14th in the rankings.

Liang Wenbo, Robert Milkins, Alexander Ursenbacher, David Gilbert, Xiao Guodong and Jimmy Robertson all progressed to the second round.

Shaun Murphy, Zhou Yuelong, David Lilley, Mitchell Mann, Hossein Vafaei, Allan Taylor, Joe Perry, Ricky Walden, Fan Zhengyi, Soheil Vahedi, Xiao Guodong and Tom Ford also reached the second round.

Ronnie O'Sullivan, John Higgins and Amine Amiri have withdrawn from the tournament and have been replaced by John Astley, Hamim Hussain and Haydon Pinhey respectively.

Higgins beat O'Sullivan 10-3 in Sunday's Players' Championship final to win his first ranking title in three years.
