Defending champion Neil Robertson was knocked out in the first round of the World Grand Prix by Robert Milkins.

The Australian, who beat Judd Trump in a late-night thriller to win the UK Championship eight days ago, crashed 4-2 in Milton Keynes.

Milkins nicked the opening frame on the final black with a clearance of 70, and a superb 116 break put him 2-0 up.

Robertson hit back to level the match but a wayward blue let Milkins in again and a break of 40 in the sixth frame saw 'The Milkman' over the line and into the second round.

The other first round matches saw Anthony McGill beat Joe Perry 4-2, while John Higgins saw off Xiao Guodong by the same score.

Barry Hawkins overcame Ricky Walden by four frames to one.
