Dennis Taylor says he expects Sunday's concluding sessions of the World Snooker Championship to be at a higher standard than what was seen on Saturday.

Ronnie O'Sullivan managed to eek out a 10-7 lead over Kyren Wilson, despite never getting close to top gear.

Both players missed shots, with their long ball percentages down in the 30s during early frames of last night's second session.

Speaking on RTÉ Radio 1's Brendan O'Connor Show programme, being presented by Damien O'Reilly, the Tyrone-native said he expects the players to lift their games today.

"Stephen Hendry said Ronnie was going to blitz it, and it looked like he was going to do that at 8-2," said the 1985 World Champion.

"I don't know what happened to him. He just lost all his cue action, all his rhythm.

"But the fact that he won the last frame, and he was lucky - Kyren knocked a red in when he potted the blue - otherwise there would have been just one frame in it.

"Ronnie played three remarkable frames to get through to the final, but at one stage he had more or less given up (against Mark Selby in the semi-final). He can do what a genius does, and he won the last three frames.

"It took its toll, because he didn't look great, and neither did Kyren, in the first session. I think it took it out of them, those two semi-finals.

"I expect this afternoon and this evening is going to be unbelievable.

"I think they'll both have had a good night's sleep. Today will be a new day, and I hope they both play well. i hope we have a close finish.

"But you'd have to fancy Ronnie to go on to match Steve Davis and Ray Reardon's record of six titles"
