Three-time champion John Higgins came back from 3-1 down to beat Stuart Bingham and reach the quarter-finals of the UK Championship.
The Scot won a scrappy contest 6-4, with a break of 50 in the last frame securing his progress in York.
There was controversy with the score at 4-4 as Bingham, leading the ninth frame 46-18, was distracted by a mobile phone going off in the audience.
He missed a red and watched as Higgins cleared up to move to within a frame of victory.
"It's a joke, it's costing people their livelihoods, people forgetting to turn their phones off," Bingham told Eurosport.
In the evening session, an out-of-sorts Neil Robertson was trounced 6-1 by China's Yan Bingtao.
The Australian needed four snookers at 5-0 down but somehow fought back to avoid a whitewash.
However, Yan won a tense seventh frame on the final black to get over the line.
Northern Ireland's Mark Allen edged past Kurt Maflin of Norway 6-5, and Liang Wenbo won the all-China clash against Li Hang 6-4.
