Judd Trump fought back from behind to edge out Joe Perry 5-4 and reach the quarter-finals of the Zhiyuan World Open.
The world number one lost four frames in a row to trail 4-3 as Perry recorded breaks including 123 and 129.
Perry missed a chance to win the match in frame eight and again in the decider, when a missed pink to the corner effectively handed Trump the match.
Trump told World Snooker: "A few things weren't going my way and I was getting frustrated.
"In the end I just fell over the line. There's so much pressure here, you don't want to be thinking about a tough loss on your way home."
Trump will face Michael Holt in the last eight after Holt thrashed home favourite Ding Junhui 5-1.
Stuart Bingham showed signs of returning to top form as he recorded four centuries and a break of 97 to beat fellow former world champion Mark Selby 5-2.
And Bingham will next play John Higgins who summoned breaks of 60 and 69 in the last two frames to edge out his friend and fellow Scot Graeme Dott in a decider.
Kyren Wilson beat Jack Lisowski 5-1 to set up a quarter-final against Zhou Yuelong, who beat Ali Carter 5-2, while the final last-eight clash will see David Gilbert - who beat Mark Allen 5-3 - face Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.
