Ronnie O'Sullivan survived a fightback from Matthew Selt to progress to the second round of the Scottish Open.

The five-time world champion raced into a two-frame lead, making a break of 124 in the second frame, but Selt knocked in a break of 82 to take the third before levelling the match at 2-2. However, O'Sullivan won the next two frames against his fellow Englishman.

Shaun Murphy made two breaks of 100 in a 4-2 win over promising Chinese teenager Zhao Xintong while Jimmy White, Ali Carter, Joe Swail and Fergal O'Brien were among the others to go through at Glasgow's Emirates Arena on Tuesday.

Veteran White, 54, rattled in a break of 133 in the opening frame and never looked back as he won 4-0 against David John while Carter had to come from two frames down to overcome Thailand's Thepchaiya Un-Nooh 4-2. Swail had two breaks of 80 and an 87 as he saw off Lee Walker 4-1.

Coral English Open winner Liang Wenbo beat Darryl Hill 4-2 with a top break of 82 while local favourite Graeme Dott was a 4-0 winner against Jak Jones.

Chris Wakelin whitewashed 1995 World Championship runner-up Nigel Bond 4-0 while breaks of 50 and 51 from Stuart Carrington in the final frame saw him edge out Kritsanut Lertsattayathorn of Thailand 4-3.

Iran's Hossein Vafaei top scored with 108 in a 4-1 win over Jack Lisowski.

Neil Robertson recorded breaks of 104, 135 and 75 in beating Thor Chuan Leong 4-1 while Stephen McGuire also scored well in his 4-0 success over Zhou Yuelong, with knocks of 130, 69 and 63.

Ryan Day was a 4-1 winner against Elliot Slessor, wrapping up the win with a break of 110 while Robert Milkins cruised past David Gilbert 4-0.
