Alan McManus beat fellow Scot Stephen Maguire 4-3 to secure a place in the second round of the Northern Ireland Open at the Titanic Exhibition Centre in Belfast.

McManus, a semi-finalist at the 2016 World Championships, knocked out 16th seed Maguire after claiming the last two frames with breaks of 68 and 86.

Earlier, Maguire had opened up with runs of 60 and 78 to lead 2-1 before a 118 break from McManus levelled things up.

Although Maguire edged in front again at 3-2 following another century break of 102, it was McManus who prevailed after forcing the decider to secure a second-round contest against Sanderson Lam.

Elsewhere in Tuesday's early matches, Chinese second seed Ding Junhui went out 4-2 against compatriot Yu De Lu, despite having taken the first two frames.

Kyren Wilson also progressed, beating Hammad Miah 4-2, and the Englishman came close to a maximum in the very first frame but missed the 15th black on the way to a break of 113.
