Ronnie O'Sullivan advanced into the last 16 of the International Championship in Daqing, China on Tuesday with a 6-4 second-round victory over England's Kurt Maflin.
Five-time world champion and current world number nine O'Sullivan, who on Monday had suggested he was no longer good enough to compete with the international elite, found himself 4-3 down to 42nd-ranked Maflin before turning things around, finishing with a break of 101.
Reigning champion John Higgins eased past Jak Jones 6-2 and world champion and number one Mark Selby won by the same score against John Astley.
Others to progress included Stuart Bingham, Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy, Ding Junhui and Neil Robertson.
Bingham and Trump saw off Dominic Dale 6-2 and Tom Ford 6-1 respectively, while world number four Murphy edged past China's 81st-ranked 16-year-old Yan Bingtao.
Ding overcame Matthew Stevens 6-2 and it was a 6-4 triumph for Robertson against Anthony Hamilton.
