Stuart Bingham and Shaun Murphy set up a repeat of the World Championship final by winning their respective semi-finals at the World Grand Prix.
Bingham beat Joe Perry 6-5 at Venue Cymru and Murphy beat Ding Junhui 6-3 as both men reached their first ranking final since May's Crucible showpiece, won 18-15 by Bingham.
World number two Bingham has struggled for form this season and though he beat Judd Trump on his run through the draw in Llandudno, he looked like missing out on the final again when Perry built on an 82 in the opener to go 3-0 up.
Bingham made 54 in frame five and 97 in frame eight but never led until he took the decider with a 69 break.
He told worldsnooker.com: "It means a lot to me to reach my first final of the season. I was nearly welling up as I potted the last few balls.
"It feels like my game is coming back to what it was at Sheffield last year. The Crucible will bring different pressures but for now I'm just happy to be doing well here."
He will face a man in prime form on Sunday after Murphy made breaks of 62, 110, 88 and 66 in beating Ding.
The Chinese player at least gave his flagging world ranking a boost, though he remains 17th in the provisional list and still has work to do to achieve automatic qualification for this year's World Championship.
