Mark Selby has withdrawn from the Shanghai Masters following the death of his father-in-law.

Ricky Walden will also be absent in China after his wife gave birth to their first child on Monday.

Selby, who was 16 when his own father died of cancer, withdrew from his first-round match against David Grace.

Leeds-based Grace, who beat Ali Carter to make sure of his place in the China tournament, will now play Mark Allen as a result of the walkover.

Northern Ireland’s Allen beat Belgium's Luca Brecel 5-3 today, while England’s Jamie Cope defeated Australian Neil Robertson 5-4 and Welshman Mark Williams beat England's Tom Ford 5-1.
