Irish duo Ken Doherty and Fergal O’Brien endured a torrid start to their World Snooker Cup in Wuxi, China as they were forced to borrow cues and clothes after their own equipment failed to arrive on time.

On Sunday, Doherty wrote on beanbagsports.com that his and O’Brien’s luggage and cues had failed to arrive with them for the competition.

“Hope they hurry up as we can't play in jeans and t shirts and obviously no cues and Fergals [sic] beginning to smell already,” Doherty joked.

Doherty and O’Brien borrowed cues to take on the China B team of Zhou Yuelong and Yan Bingtao, and Doherty was forced to borrow a waistcoat.

The misery continued for the Irish duo when they were soundly beaten, 4-1, by the young Chinese duo.

The cues are expected to arrive in time for their second match against the UAE tomorrow.
