John Higgins and Shaun Murphy both enjoyed first-round wins at the Shanghai Masters on Monday.
The duo, with five world titles between them, had differing fortunes, though, with Murphy grinding out a 5-4 success over Yu De Lu and Higgins crushing Mike Dunn 5-1.
Both men wracked up two centuries en route, while there were also opening-day wins for Martin Gould and Ryan Day.
Joe Perry was a 5-3 loser to Wang Yuchen.
