Alan McManus kept up his encouraging start to the season with a 9-5 win over Marcus Campbell at the Maplin UK Championship in York.
The 35-year-old Glaswegian reached the semi-finals of the Grand Prix in October and looks to be re-discovering the form that enabled him to stay in the world's top 16 for 14 years.
Breaks of 60 and 63 set McManus on the way to a 4-0 lead - and despite not hitting the heights in tonight's second session, he resisted Campbell's attempts to fight back.
Jamie Burnett clinched a meeting with last year's runner-up Steve Davis, via a 9-3 victory over Andy Hicks, while Ireland's Joe Swail meets 2004 champion Stephen Maguire - having prevailed 9-7 against Joe Delaney.
